What is Thai Massage?

Thai massage combines assisted yoga with acupressure techniques. The therapist doesn’t use oils and rubbing or kneading like traditional massage. Thai massage combines the principles of acupressure whereby the Sen is stimulated, which is said to balance the energy system in the body.

The passive stretching can also help to open up the body which can help increase flexibility and relieve tension within the joints and the muscles. A Thai massage treatment typically begins at the feet with the client lying face down and is more energetic and rigorous than your usual massage. The therapist will also often use their hands and feet to apply pressure, and the treatment usually is done through the clothes, although oils and lotions can sometimes be used if requested.

What are the benefits of Thai massage?

The theory behind the benefits of Thai massage is that through different techniques and applied pressure, the muscles are manipulated to release tension and release endorphins that help us feel better. The theory behind these benefits is also due to the influence of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Chinese medicine and acupuncture believe that we all have a meridian line in our body and along this meridian line, acupressurists are located. Stimulating these acupressuric points allows for a better flow of energy through the body.

The main benefits of Thai massage are:

Improved flexibility and range of muscle movement through assisted stretching Blood flow is increased, and circulation assisted Release of physical tension to relieve aches and pains Release of emotional tension held within the body, combating stress and providing a feeling of relaxation In addition to these benefits, like all massage, the stimulation of the nerves and skin cells can improve skin quality and muscular function, and contribute to an overall sense of well-being.

How does Thai massage work?

Chinese medicine and acupressure philosophy believe we all have meridian lines within our bodies and along these meridian lines (also known as Sen lines) are acupressure points. The belief is that by stimulating the acupressure points this will allow for a healthier flow of energy within the body.

What Our Customers Say

Such an amazing experience here. My masseur was so professional and well trained to ease my aches after 3 days on a bike in Ha Giang. This is medium pressure which is my preference but they ask you and you can pick to suit yourself. I did 1 hour Vietnamese massage and it was perfect. So relaxing. I loved the water beforehand and tea and fruit after. Very nice place. Recommend to others.

What a great place to relax with a foot massage. Indulgence at its very best. I was first In Hanoi at the end of last September with swollen feet from a nine hour flight and discovered Sen Vang Spa on the third last evening and came for a foot massage on that and the two following evenings. I reluctantly had to leave Hanoi to go to Thailand but returned in November for eight days. On every one of those days I took time out for a foot massage. Great staff, great service. I am now back in Sydney but expect to be back in Hanoi in February and I know my first port of call will be Sen Vang Spa.
